B.R.A.V.E. (Building Respect and Values for Everyone) is the official national platform and anti-bullying campaign of the Miss Jr. High, High School, and Collegiate America Organization.
Mission: B.R.A.V.E. promotes Building Respect and Values for Everyone through classroom, library, and community presentations to school-aged children and their parents to create awareness and to promote a bully-free and safe environment. Our mission is to reduce the effects of bullying and awareness of bullying in schools and communities.
Goals and Objectives:
To reduce the negative effects of bullying through being kind, courteous, friendly, caring, and respectful to others
To raise awareness about bullying in schools, libraries, and communities
To raise awareness and promote legislation and policies in schools and communities that promote a bully-free and safe environment for children
To teach children to go to an adult or someone they trust when they see someone being bullied
To teach children and adults to be stand-byers, not bystanders when bullying is happening
Kids are visual learners, so I came up with the idea of "Ava's Army" B.R.A.V.E. bandanas. I give these out to elementary-aged kids in my community to tie onto their backpacks as a visual reminder to ALWAYS be kind. As Miss High School America, I plan to continue my partnership with PACER's National Bullying Prevention Center and expand my program on a national level.
