Hi everyone! I’m Ava Ernst...thank you for visiting my website! I am a musical theater buff, competitive swimmer, dancer, singer/songwriter, downhill skier, animal lover, and a self-professed Star Wars geek! I live with my mom, dad, and pets in the suburbs of Minneapolis/St. Paul.
I am an "A" Honor Roll student and my favorite subject is English. I joined the high school swim team as a 7th grader and have earned three varsity letters in the 100 backstroke. More importantly, I am honored to be an academic letter winner in both swimming and dance. In addition to swimming, I love downhill skiing. I would ski every day if I could!
Musical theater and performing is where my heart lies. I recently was one of two sophomores to join the "Company of Singers" show choir. I also had the time of my life playing Mary Poppins in our school musical. It was a magical experience and made me realize how much I enjoy theater and performing. The year prior, I was thrilled to be cast as "Becky" in my school's production of "Dear Edwina" and was in "Legally Blonde" the year before that. I also am a huge Star Wars fan and have loved the movies for as long as I can remember. My family and I waited in line for three hours just to get good seats on opening day of “Star Wars - The Force Awakens!” After being inspired by George Lucas and my experiences in musical theater, I hope to pursue a career in the arts after graduating from college and film school.
Playing guitar and singing have an important role in my life. Following in the footsteps of my mom and grandpa, I have been taking guitar lessons for the past 8 years. I love to perform at various events and talent competitions and have written about 10 original songs which I am hoping to record. I have also enjoyed taking voice lessons from local recording artist and Cities 97 DJ Keri Noble. I have learned so much from her! I also enjoy being in choir and used to play the violin and viola in the school orchestra.
I currently serve as a member of the Student Advisory Board for PACER's National Anti-Bullying Prevention Center located right here in Minnesota. I have also served as a Student Council representative for four years and been involved in our school's Youth in Government program.
Giving back to my community is very important to me, especially volunteering with various pet adoption/rescue organizations. In fact, I've been awarded the Presidential Volunteer Service Award at the Gold Level (given to those who volunteer 100+ hours in a calendar year). Over the past five years, I have raised nearly $5,000 for the Walk for Animals and have been honored as a 3-time "Top Walker" at their annual banquet. I also volunteer with Project Purpose and Animal Investigator events. Other highlights include volunteering at the annual Underdog Rescue fundraiser, being a puppy pen educator with Secondhand Hounds, and walking the runway with my dog Toots at the AHS Whisker Whirl gala. I am a firm believer that the best things in life are rescued!
